Well, it's the last day of 2020, and looking back over the last year, I can see that I definitely used fiction as a break from reality, both reading and writing. I started using dictation to write in 2019 (I believe in August) and in 2020, I got loads more confident with it. In fact, it's now my preferred method of composition, although it takes a lot of editing and I still type first drafts as well. But dictation definitely helps me be more prolific than I used to be. 

In 2020, I posted 294,153 words to AO3. That's a heckin lot! But looking at my stats on 4thewords, which i use and love--it gamifies writing and you kill monsters with wordcounts, fun!--I wrote 481,995 words in total. Some of those words were outline and some of them were original fiction, which I want to write more of in 2021, and a great many of them were other fic AUs, because while 2020 didn't seem to affect my focus to write, it sure did affect my ability to focus on one project at a time. I've always written on multiple projects at once, but that really intensified this year.

My writing intentions for 2021:
-finish some (many, hopefully) of the AUs in my drafts folder that are begging to be finished
-finish as far as desire wills our feet, because I feel bad about how long it's been since I updated
-write more original fiction 
-continue to use dictation
-handwrite more fiction, just because I enjoy it. :D

I also really enjoyed writing to prompts and would like to do more of that! It seems to be the only way I can write anything short these days. 

There are a couple of collabs I have in the works as well, both as a writer and as an artist, and I'm really excited about those as well. 

finally! I wrote original fiction for NaNo mostly, and I would like to write a lot more of it this year. It's fun to use that part of my brain as well. 

Here's hoping we all get a calmer 2021, and find creative fulfillment, writing or otherwise.

for a total of 6,196 words. Most of these were on my StuckyAUBB, but Friday and Saturday the spirit of floofy dogs and mountainous Bucky muscle overtook me and I wrote total eclipse of the bark. It was really satisfying to write something short and finish it in the midst of all this longfic writing. 

My general goal is to average out 1k words a day, but I think the BB fic was dragging a little because i was stuck on a plot point. I spent last night unsticking it and I hope to see more forward momentum from here on out.
